DMA card on AMD vs Intel 2026 — which platform is safer

Choosing between AM5 and LGA1700/1851 affects DMA card behavior. Both work — but the configuration steps differ.

Intel (Z790, Z890, B760)

Every DMA card we ship works out of the box on Intel. IOMMU is off by default on most consumer BIOSes. Captain DMA 75T and Stark100T both detected at first boot.

  • Z790 / Z890 / B760 — full compatibility
  • IOMMU usually off by default
  • Captain DMA, Stark100T, Squirrel 35T all work
  • No BIOS tweaks needed

AMD (X670, B650, X870)

AMD AM5 boards default IOMMU on, which can block Captain DMA reads. Fix: disable IOMMU in BIOS (Advanced → AMD CBS → IOMMU = Disabled). After that, identical performance to Intel.
